ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The Research Affiliate Program (RAP) is available only to post-secondary students
whose academic program requires supervised laboratory or field research in order to graduate.
To be considered for RAP positions, the student must:
be currently recognized as having full-time student status by
the academic institution in which they are presently enrolled OR be part-time
students who are recognized by their academic institution as having a disability;
be required to do a supervised research work term in a laboratory
in order to fulfill their academic requirements;
be the minimum age to work in the province or territory where the job exists;
be enrolled in an academic program that requires supervised laboratory or field research in order to graduate.
Re-Employments
a) Into another RAP position:
The PSC may authorize the re-employment of a student into an identical or similar
RAP position in the same or another department if he or she meets the following conditions:
was initially selected through RAP;
meets all the requirements of the job; and
continues to meet the eligibility criteria described above;
Hiring departments are responsible for requesting a student re-employment into another RAP position.
b) From a RAP position into a Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) position:
The PSC may authorize the re-employment of a student into an
FSWEP position
in the same or another department if he or she meets the following conditions:
was initially selected through RAP;
meets all the requirements of the job; and
meets the
eligibility criteria as described under FSWEP;
In order for a student to be re-employed into an FSWEP position, the student must
ensure that they have an active application in the current FSWEP inventory.
Citizenship
While non-Canadians may apply to RAP, preference is given to Canadian citizens.
A Canadian citizen is a person who was born in Canada or who has attained their
Canadian citizenship via Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
