How to Complete the Request for Re-employment Form

1. Department

From the drop down box, select your department or agency.

2. Departmental Program

If you are requesting referrals for a departmental program, select the departmental program from the drop down box. Otherwise, leave this space blank.

3. Job title

Enter a job title reflective of the work to be performed. Be specific. ("Summer Student" is not sufficient)

4. Job Location

Indicate the geographic code that corresponds with the work location. Click on the « List of work locations» link for a list of locations.

5. Part-time job?

Check the "Yes" box if this is a part-time job.
Note: Students must not work full-time during an academic term.

6. Duration of employment

Enter the date on which the job starts and the date which it ends. Only those students who have indicated that they are available to work by the date the job starts will be selected.
Click on the icon to the right of the field and select the date from the pop-up calendar, or enter the date in the format yyyy/mm/dd. The date must be today's date or later.

7. Send Referrals To

Indicate the Last name, First name, E-mail Address, Telephone and Facsimile numbers of the person who will receive the referrals.

8. Student Information

In the spaces provided, enter the Last Name, First Name, Telephone number, Personal Recorder Identifier (PRI) and the Official Languages profile of the student(s) you wish to re-employ. (A PRI was assigned to every student who worked for a federal department or agency in the past year.) FSWEP or CO-OP/RAP
Click the appropriate box to indicate if the student was previously hired under the following programs: FSWEP, Co-op and Internship, or the Research Affiliate Program (RAP). A department may rehire, into the same or similar position, any student who has previously worked under the FSWEP, Co-op/Internship or RAP programs.

If you are re-employing a former co-op or internship student, you must provide the following completed documentation to your local PSC office along with your request: a copy of the Letter of Agreement between the department/agency and the student’s academic institution (or equivalent) and a copy of the most recent Letter of Offer between the department/agency and the student. Referrals will not be sent before these documents have been obtained by the PSC.

If you are re-employing a RAP student, you must provide a copy of the most recent Letter of Offer between the department/agency and the student, to your local PSC office along with your request. Referrals will not be sent before this document has been obtained by the PSC.

9. Rehiring Justification

A rationale is required to justify an interdepartmental rehiring. Situations where interdepartmental rehiring may be justified are provided in the Staffing Manual, Chapter 6 (section 6.10.3)
