JOB TITLE: Student in Law

NUMBER OF JOBS BEING OFFERED: Various

JOB DESCRIPTION: Analyze legal principles and/or legal questions; research legal matters; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work in a team. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships based on listening and respect so as to promote the progress of the work within the organization; adhere to the values and objectives of the said organization; act in accordance with the public interest and draw logical conclusions from presented or observed facts in a given question.

DEPARTMENT/AGENCY: Justice Canada

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION OF POSITION: Ottawa, Montreal and the Quebec Regional Office (QRO)

THE DEPARTMENT WILL MAKE THE MAJORITY OF REQUESTS FOR REFERRALS BY THIS DATE: Spring 2007

DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT: Summer with a possibility of an extension during the school year

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingualism (English and French) is required.

FIELD OF STUDY: Civil Law (3301)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. Administrative Law (7201)
  2. Tax Law (7220)
  3. Criminal Law (7207)
  4. Commercial Law (7203)
  5. Native Law (7215)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This Program is for students in Law who have already been selected by the Quebec Regional Office of Justice Canada, as future articling students who will be eligible in one to two years for their articling period as expected by the École du Barreau du Québec.
