Appointment Policy Questions and Answers

Mobility

Q. How will the new Public Service Employment Act (PSEA) affect separate agencies?

A. The new PSEA affects those separate agencies that do not fall under the PSEA, in the area of mobility. Even though these organizations don’t fall under the PSEA, it will be easier to include employees from these organizations in advertised appointment processes. They will be eligible to participate in processes that are open to “employees of the public service.”  It will also be possible to deploy employees between separate agencies and those organizations that fall under the PSEA, where the PSC has given its approval. This will make lateral movement for employees much easier.
