"Get Ready" Sessions - Overview

The "Get Ready" Information Sessions, organized by the Public Service Commission (PSC) provide information to human resources (HR) professionals on staffing under the new Public Service Employment Act (PSEA).

Series Three

These sessions, held in March and April 2006, focussed on the following topics:

  • the new Public Service Employment Regulations;
  • the new Public Service Official Languages Exclusion Approval Order and Public Service Official Languages Appointment Regulations;
  • Managing Applicant Volumes in a National Area of Selection Environment: A Guiding Framework

Series Two

Held in the fall of 2005, this series focussed on the following topics:

  • the transitional provisions related to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA), as outlined in the Public Service Modernization Act (PSMA) ;
  • executive appointments;
  • political activities;
  • the Public Service Staffing Tribunal (PSST); and
  • PSC investigations.

Held in the spring and summer of 2005, this series focussed on the following topics:

  • the three components of the new PSC Appointment Framework: appointment policy, delegation and accountability;
  • the recruitment and assessment services offered by the PSC; and
  • key related Employer policies that will be presented by the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency (PSHRMAC).
