Blue Bar

Use

The purpose of the Computer Aptitude Test is to assess an individual's potential to learn computer programming. Each of the three sub-tests measures abstract reasoning abilities required by computer programming.

It can be used to assist managers in making selection decisions for appointment or for placement into training programs, identifying training and development needs, and counselling for career transitions.

Description

The Computer Aptitude Test consists of 90 multiple-choice questions. There are three sub-tests:

  • Number/Letter Series - 30 questions
  • Figure Analogies - 40 questions
  • Arithmetic Reasoning - 20 questions

Examples of the questions are given on the reverse side of this sheet.

The test takes about 80 minutes to write, including time for administrative purposes. Managers can set the cut-off score based on the aptitude required by the position.

The Personnel Psychology Centre's 48-hour scoring service sends results to the test centre which in turn informs the candidates of their scores.

Retest Period - There is a 180 days waiting period before you can rewrite the test. Should you wish to take this test again, you must wait until after the retest period indicated for this test has elapsed. Should you rewrite the test before the retest period has elapsed, your result will not be valid and a new retest period will be imposed from the new test date.
