AFTER YOU APPLY

Modify Your Application - Any type of modification may be made to an application prior to the closing date for the competition. After the closing date, the only changes that may be made are to contact information (e.g. mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number). The last modification made to the application is the one that will remain in the system.

Modifications may be made through your My Jobs account.

  • Select View My Jobs File from My Jobs Menu.
  • Use the Retrieve button to view the job opportunity that you wish to modify.

Your application will automatically move to the Job Opportunity(ies) in Progress section while you are making modifications.

When you have made the necessary changes to your application, you must use the Submit Application feature to return your application to the Job Opportunity (ies) Submitted.

If you do not re-submit the application, it will not be considered for this competition.

Referrals - Following the closing date and the scoring of tests (if applicable):

  • The system electronically screens applicants against the organization's pre-determined minimum requirements, as noted on the job poster. This includes test scores, where applicable.
  • The Public Service Commission (PSC) refers applicants who meet the minimum requirements to the hiring organization for further consideration.
  • The hiring organization conducts a more detailed screening of the applications.
  • Only applicants who are to be considered further will be contacted by the organization.

If you are called for an interview, references may be requested. Be prepared to provide at least two references who know your work and whom the organization may contact in confidence. For job opportunities available through the Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) Program, you may also be asked to provide additional information such as a resume or transcripts.

While travel reimbursement is generally not offered, some organizations may offer this option. Some organizations may conduct telephone interviews as well.

You may check the status of your application at any time by going into My Jobs, and then clicking on Application Status. Results will be posted as soon as they are available.

Inventory Referrals - Electronic searches of active applications in inventories maintained through PSRS (both Post-Secondary Recruitment and other inventories) are conducted based on minimum requirements that are pre-determined by the hiring organization.

  • If you meet the minimum requirements, you will receive an e-mail Invitation to Reply, inquiring as to your interest in and availability fir referral. You will be asked to respond within a specified period of time (usually within 48 hours) either by accepting through your My Jobs File, or by e-mail to your Invitation to Reply.
  • If you respond that you are interested, the PSC will refer your application to the hiring organization.
  • For Post-Secondary Recruitment (PSR) inventories: please ensure that you have your official transcripts available, and Proof of Equivalencies if you obtained your diploma/degree outside of Canada. Additional information (e.g., resume, text(s), transcripts, etc.) may also be requested.
  • The hiring organization will review your application to confirm that you meet the minimum requirements for the job opportunity. Only applicants who are to be assessed further will be contacted.
  • If you were identified through an inventory search, and responded to the Invitation to Reply e-mail, you can view the referral information in the Application Status link in My Jobs Menu. Additional information regarding your application is available through links within the Inventories section.
