Types of benefits: General Information

Employment Insurance (EI) and maternity, parental and sickness benefits
    Information specific to: Canada
    Maternity/parental benefits are paid to individuals who are pregnant, have recently given birth, are adopting a child or are caring for a newborn. Sickness benefits are paid to those who are unable to work due to sickness, injury, or quarantine.
Employment Insurance (EI) and Regular Benefits
    Information specific to: Canada
    Regular benefits can be paid if you lose your job through no fault of your own (for example, due to shortage of work, seasonal or mass lay-offs) and you are available for and able to work but you can't find a job.
Employment Insurance (EI) Compassionate Care Benefits

    Compassionate care benefits are paid to persons who have to be away from work temporarily to provide care or support to a family member who is gravely ill with a significant risk of death.
