ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience is required in EACH of the following areas:

Experience in the installation of electronic accessories for vehicles.

Experience soldering electrical components.

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
    • Willingness to undergo and successfully pass a RCMP reliability security clearance.
    • Possession of a valid provincial Class 5 Driver's License and an acceptable Driver's Abstract.
    • Possession of safety boots.
    • Willingness to travel.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position.

Work Environment

Frequent requirements to adapt to changing work priorities, multiple demands and interruptions when required to respond to emergency problems, such as breakdowns and damaged equipment.

Challenge

Develops, modifies, installs and removes police emergency and radio equipment from all types of police vehicles. Install mobile computer work stations and telecommunication equipment, diagnoses and repairs failures in same equipment.

  • Inclusion in the Pool: Persons who meet the essential qualifications may be included in the pool. Intake to the pool is continuous. Written tests, practical tests, interviews or other assessment methods may be used to confirm that candidates possess the essential or asset qualifications.
  • Hiring from the Pool: All persons offered employment must meet the essential qualifications, and conditions of employment. In addition, managers may consider some or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements and organizational needs, when choosing from the pool. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Candidates will be considered for appointments of a higher tenure while employed from the pool. Once a specified period of employment that has been offered from the pool has been completed, a candidate’s name will be returned to the pool for future employment opportunities.
  • Removal from the Pool: A qualified candidate’s name may be removed from the pool if he/she has been offered employment on three occasions and has not accepted, or if the candidate has accepted a period of employment and has not performed the duties in a satisfactory manner (as determined by the employer). A candidate may ask to have his/her name removed from the pool.
  • Applicants must clearly demonstrate in writing at the time of their application that they meet and possess the essential criteria and are within the area of selection. Failure to do so may result in the application not receiving further consideration.
