Education

Useful Information

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in physics, chemistry or other related physical or applied science relevant to the position.

Experience

Experience in analytical techniques related to the analysis of radiochemical samples, such as gamma spectrometry, liquid scintillation counting or mass spectrometry.

Experience in analytical techniques related to elemental and trace analysis.

Experience in preparing scientific documents for publication.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

Reliability Status. This factor is not used at the preselection stage. The Department is responsible for the security clearance process.

  • The following merit criteria may be required for this position. Applicants should indicate in their application if they meet the merit criteria.
    • Master's or Ph.D. in a discipline related to the position.
    • Experience in working in a quality control laboratory.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position.

Challenge

You will:

Conduct chemical and radiochemical analyses using modern analytical and radioanalytical techniques; operate and maintain a gamma spectroscopy system, a mass spectrometer and a liquid scintillation counter for measurement of radioactivity in environmental samples; write standard laboratory operating procedures and follow Good Laboratory Practices; collect, compile and analyze laboratory data.

  • An interview will be administered.
  • A reference check will be conducted.
