Education

Graduation from a recognized university in a discipline related to the position ( e.g commerce, law, business administration, finance, accounting or actuarial science) and

a) master's degree from a recognized university in a discipline related to the position (e.g commerce, law, business administration, finance, accounting or actuarial science).

OR

b) professional designation or membership in a professional association in a discipline related to the position (e.g CA, CGA,CMA,CFA,FCIA, member of a law society etc).

Experience

For RE-05:

Experience in working with the Pension Benefit Standards Act, 1985 (PBSA), the 1985 Pension Benefit Standards Regulations, or similar statutes.


For RE-06

Experience in working with the Pension Benefit Standards Act, 1985 (PBSA), the 1985 Pension Benefit Standards Regulations, or similar statutes.

Experience in providing advice to senior managers.

Experience in leading projects or teams.


Experience in writing correspondence, reports, and/or briefing notes for senior managers.

Challenge

For RE-06 position - Manager

The Office of the Superintendent of the Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI) is seeking an individual to join its supervision team as a manager in the Private Pension Plans Division (PPDP). The incumbent is responsible for the management of a portfolio of pension plans supervised by the PPPD, in accordance with the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985, the Pension Benefits Standards Regulations, 1985 as well as relevant pension guidelines and the framework for exercising the superintendent’s powers.

The manager’s position will include managing a team of relationship managers, maintaining an effective and efficient supervisory process, and ensuring that timely intervention activities are undertaken when dealing with emerging problems. The manager is also responsible for internal and external communications, managing the on-site examination program, and managing the ongoing development of the risk assessment system.

Additional Requirements / Comments

  • Salary for RE-05 : ($68,300 to $85,300). Salary for RE-06 : ($81,200 to $101,400)
  • Various language requirements and profiles: We are currently staffing a non-imperative bilingual CBC/CBC RE-06 manager position. For a non-imperative staffing action, applicants are not required to be bilingual to apply and be considered in the selection process. Other language requirements and/or profiles are: Bilingual imperative and non-imperative CCC/CCC or English essential for both the RE-05 and RE-06 positions.
  • A person may be appointed to a position even though he or she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, having one (1) or many of the asset qualifications is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate in their resume that they meet the assets qualifications.
  • A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff similar positions on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis for RE-05 and RE-06 positions with various language requirement and/or profiles.
  • A written examination will be administered.
