ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Sports Medicine (Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine)
- Experience with employee return to work programs
- Experience in public speaking or teaching adults
- Knowledge of minor wounds and interarticular/soft tissue injections
- Knowledge of Occupational Medicine
- Knowledge of diagnosing and treating sports injuries

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Certification in CPR Level C

- RCMP Reliability Status

Challenge

The position of Health Services Officer at Depot Division provides a unique medical practice opportunity combining sports medicine with occupational medicine. As part of a multi-disciplinary team including another physician, a physiotherapist, a psychologist and two nurses, you will provide clinical medical services to cadets undergoing the physically demanding six month training course to become officers in the RCMP. While musculoskeletal injuries make up a large portion of the practice, you will also treat a wide variety of general medicine and emotional health conditions. The occupational health and safety component of the job includes instructing cadets on the occupational hazards of policing duties, conducting medical assessments on members and cadets to determine suitability for assignment to specific duties, providing advice to administration regarding the appropriate employment of members and cadets as well as monitoring and facilitating the return to work for members on extended sick leave.
