English essential

Education

Useful Information

Secondary school diploma according to provincial/territorial standards or Public Service Commission of Canada approved alternatives, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience

Experience in the use of lathe, machining tools and gauges using the skill normally associated with a qualified journeyman machinist.

Experience in the use of electrical test equipment.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Acceptable training and experience in the maintenance and repair of propulsion systems of acoustic torpedoes and launcher systems of missiles.

Experience in utilizing the MS Office Suite of programs (Word, Outlook, Access, Excel).

Journeyman machinist ticket.

Interested persons must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs, however, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC provincial driver's license.
  • Willingness and ability to wear a variety of respiratory PPE.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 kg without assistance.
