Education

Useful Information

Successful completion of a university science degree in plant physiology and/or biochemistry.

Experience

Recent laboratory experience in planning, designing, sampling, analyses, and data compilation in support of a plant physiology/biochemistry program; &
Recent laboratory experience in collecting samples and developing and implementing methodology for assessing plant metabolites using such technologies as High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Liquid Chromatography (GLC), and spectrophotometry.

Candidates must meet the Essential Qualifications to be appointed to the position. Candidates may be expected to meet, in whole or in part, the criteria related to the Assets, Operational Requirements and Organizational Needs, depending on the position being staffed.

  • ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:
    Masters degree in Plant Science.
    Experience:
    Experience in chemistry and/or food science; &
    Experience in sample preparation, protein isolation and identification, gas analysis, analysis using enzyme kinetic techniques, quality measurements such as texture and colour assessments, and maintenance/troubleshooting of scientific equipment and laboratory work areas.
  • OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Willingness to work overtime; &
    Willingness to travel.
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Security:Reliability Status; &
    Willingness to conduct field work.
