Useful Information

Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training.

Occupational Certification

Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, Category M1/M2.

Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in the development, application, supervision or management of quality assurance systems or other equivalent aviation maintenance activities in an approved aviation maintenance organization.
Experience in the inspection, modification, repair and maintenance of aeronautical products.
Experience using MS Word.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Investigative experience in an investigation organization, i.e. RCMP, Municipal Police Force, Transportation Safety Board.
Experience in helicopter maintenance

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

  • Reliability and Security: Secret Clearance
  • Possession of a valid provincial or territorial automobile driver’s License
  • Willing and able to climb ladders and other structures to perform inspections.
  • Willing and able to travel to local, national and international destinations frequently, including remote/isolated locations via all modes of transportation.

Work Environment

The Aviation Enforcement Services is responsible for fostering pilot and air carrier operator awareness of regulations and voluntary compliance with the rules. They focus on the prevention of violations through education, publicity, presence and consultation. They make presentations at flying clubs and colleges. They regularly conduct courses for the RCMP, the public and other TC branches. They conduct random airside inspections on aircraft and pilot documentation. They conduct routine ramp inspections. They detect violations with the assistance of the public, the police, the aviation industry and other TC branches. They conduct investigations and act as expert witnesses in judicial court. They encourage compliance through oral counselling, training, judicial action, suspension or cancellation of documents, and monetary fines. They conduct comprehensive investigations where a serious or repeat offence is committed and they present cases to Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada (TATC) on behalf of the Minister of Transport."

  • The Written Communication Proficiency Test (351) and the Maintenance and Manufacturing-Technical Knowledge Test will be administered. If you have recently written this test within the last 180 days or you possess valid results and would like to have them considered, please provide an official copy of your results attached to your application.
  • Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet the education and experience factors outlined in the essential qualifications in their cover letter.
  • Candidates should use the experience and education factors as a header and then write one or two paragraphs demonstrating how they meet the experience and education required. Resumes will be used to validate the experience and education listed in the covering letter.
  • Only candidates who have successfully demonstrated that they possess the screening criteria of Education and Experience will be invited to the second phase of the selection process. Please provide concrete examples. Failure to provide concrete examples may result in your application being screened out without further consideration.
  • Candidates will be assessed against the attached Statement of Merit Criteria. The selection process may include written examination, interview, practical exercise, role play, situational exercise and reference checks.   • The Asset Qualifications and Organization Needs are those merit criteria, which may be used to select candidates. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs.
