Occupational Certification

    • Must hold a current and valid Alberta level three Water Treatment operator Certificate or other recognized provincial equivalency.
    • Must hold an Alberta Level one Wastewater Treatment Certification or other recognized provincial equivalency.
    • Possession of a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.

    • Alberta level two or higher Water Distribution Operator certificate or other provincial equivalency.
    • Alberta level one or higher Wastewater Collection Operator Certificate or other provincial equivalency.
    • Aviation fluids services officer certification.
    • Current Confined space qualification.

Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience is required in EACH of the following areas:

. Supervising.
. Using electronic spreadsheets, word processing and electronic mail.
. Operating / overseeing water or wastewater treatment plant.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Willingness to undergo and successfully pass an enhanced reliability security clearance.
• Must undergo and pass a pre-employment medical assessment (Cat III) to determine medical/physical/psychological suitability to work in confined spaces wearing self-contained breathing apparatus.

    • Experience in preparing, and reviewing technical reports.
    • Experience in managing projects including defining requirements, establishing resource requirements, ordering materials, implementation and commissioning.
    • Experience in staffing process of new employees.

Challenge

Reporting to the Base Construction Engineering Works Officer, the Water Treatment and Environmental Services Supervisor manages all water treatment, water distributuion, storm and sanitary sewer collection and treatments systems, auxiliary power generation systems, fuel storage and delivery systems, containment and cleanup of hazardous materials spills, manages an environmental monitoring service and pollution prevention program. Performs technical specialist duty as the Aviation Fluids Services Officer for CFB Suffield. Directs and controls a shop of normally 12 members (plus seasonal employees) of diversified tradesmen to complete all maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance inspections and installations. Provides design and review for the above systems and equipment. Is responsible for determining and procuring the resources required and the implementation methods to be utilized in the completion of all repairs and installations. Acts as life cycle manager for above equipment.
