Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a program accredited by the Canadian Institute of Planners, OR graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in Economics, Public Policy, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed, OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Asset:
Graduation with a Master's degree from a recognized university.

Experience

· Experience in transportation systems or urban planning.

· Experience in research.

· Experience in implementing strategies in multiple stakeholder and high profile environments.

· Experience in managing projects, personnel, and budgets

· Experience in advising senior managers in the federal or a provincial government on diverse, high profile and complex matters.

· Experience in presenting reports to senior managers in the federal or a provincial government.

Asset:

· Experience working with, or for, a government in urban planning.

  • OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Willingness to travel.
    Willingness to work overtime when required.

Challenge

Comprehensive due diligence assessment for Transport Canada (TC) of existing and planned air transportation planning studies related to requirements in Southern Ontario and, in particular, the federally-owned Pickering Lands Site (PLS).
Comprehensive departmental strategy addressing the future uses and disposition of the federally-owned Pickering Lands Site (PLS) in relation to long-term air transportation requirements in Southern Ontario.
Liaison between, and consultation with, key stakeholders in the aviation industry and the PLS, including all levels of government, the private sector and the public, in relation to PLS strategic planning.
Issue sensing, analysis, and advice to TC management related to airport planning in Southern Ontario.
Consulting expertise on economic and social issues related to the air transportation industry.
