Education

Graduation from a recognized diploma or degree program in nursing.

Occupational Certification

The Registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in province of practice.

Experience

Experience in providing psychiatric nursing or case management services to adult mental health patients.
Experience working in an interdisciplinary team setting.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

  • Operational Requirements:
    Willingness to travel frequently within a province or region.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Security: Reliability Status
    Valid driver's license.
    Valid First Aid and CPR certification.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position.

Challenge

Completes, reviews and modifies comprehensive community mental health integration plans in conjunction with other CSC staff community-based agencies and support systems.

Identifies required community resources to meet the psychosocial needs of offenders with mental disorders; and performs ongoing assessments and monitoring of offenders’ psychosocial functioning and community integration.

Provides counselling and other support services to offenders with mental disorders and advocates on behalf of offenders for access to required community-based services.

Supports medication compliance for offenders with mental health disorders through offender and family health teaching.

Contributes to community capacity building to support integration initiatives for offenders with mental disorders.

Delivers National Mental Health Training to CSC and Community Residential Facility (CRF) staff.
