Some experience in the telecommunications environment, e.g. sending and receiving classified and non classified messages on the appropriate communications network. Qualified candidates will be required to complete the RCMP typing test. Those reaching 40 wpm will proceed to write an aptitude examination. Based on the results of the exam, candidates may be interviewed by a Structured Interview Board. An in depth screening including psychological assessment, security interview, audio test and security clearance are also required. Successful candidates will be provided with eight weeks of classroom and on-the-job training, after which a term contract of 20 to 40 hours per week may be offered. Full-time employment may be offered as vacancies become available. Statement of Merit CriteriaApplicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position. ChallengeA complaint-taker/dispatcher receives calls from the public and dispatches police to emergency and non-emergency requests for service in a fast-paced, high stress, team environment, working 10 or 12 hour shifts, on a 24/7 basis.
