  • Post-secondary studies in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Experience

- Experience at the senoir level in consulting and negotiating with Aboriginal organizations, provincial governments, the private sector and other government departments.

- Experience in formulating and implementing policy related to program delivery.

- Experience in providing advice to senior government officials on Aboriginal issues.

- Experience at the senior level in managing extensive operational programs.

- Experience in managing human resources and operational budgets.

Challenge

As the Senior Executive Officer in the Region, the Regional Director General (RDG) is responsible for: representing the interests and concerns of the Department within the region; implementing departmental programs and policies; managing the delivery of residual educational, social development and economic development services to BC First Nations, and the administration of First Nations lands and trusts; fostering support and assistance to First Nations self-government initiatives through negotiations with First Nations communities, provincial governments and federal departments; representing the Government of Canada in the resolution of disputes with and grievances against the federal government BC First Nations communities; advising the Deputy Minister, the Senior ADM, Socio-Economic Policy, and Regional Operations (SEPRO) and other ADMs for the principal program areas on the regional impact of national programs and policies; and for the effective management of departmental staff and resources in the Region.
