Successful completion of Grade 12 secondary school education according to provincial/territorial standards or employer approved alternative.

Occupational Certification

  • Applicants must demonstrate in their application that they meet the following merit criteria to be retained for further consideration.
    • Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter licensed to operate in the province of Alberta. Please include Journeyman certificate numbers. Copies of certificates will be required for candidates screened into the process.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Willingness to undergo and successfully pass a reliability security clearance.
• Possession of a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers license or provincial / territorial equivalent.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position.

Challenge

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, performs repairs; overhaul and alteration tasks on plumbing/heating; both high temperature/pressure hot water, secondary heating, Utilidor and Fire Alarm Sprinkler systems and equipment. Participates in the operations and maintenance programs of all systems; conducts inspections. Maintains accurate records and performs other duties.

The person appointed must be administered the Oath before being appointed to the position. Administration of the Oath concerns individuals appointed from outside the public service.
