  • A degree in nursing from a Canadian University or recognized equivalent.

Occupational Certification

Current registration as a registered nurse in the province of employment and a member in good standing in that province. Possession of current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within the past year.

Experience

Essential Qualifications:
Experience in the implementation of a community health nursing and treatment program.

Asset Qualifcations:
Experience in dealing with labour relation issues and conflict resolution.

    Willingness to travel extensively over rough roads for long distances, fly in a small airplane or helicopter or travel by boat which may be in inclement weather.

Challenge

Direct and support the development, implementation and management of a community health nursing service to First Nations communities. Community health services include public health, communicable disease control, population health programs, and health promotion. Management of this program includes planning, organizing and evaluating the delivery of community health nursing services; directing and supporting programs; supervising health nurses; participates in co-management of integrated agreements, pre-transfer discussion and provides professional support and advice to First nations leaders and other health care team members. The incumbent provides consultative services to First Nations leadership, First Nations community health nurses, and zone and regional staff on issues related to the community health nursing program.
