Education

Useful Information

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in biology, geography, ecology, environmental studies or other related specialty related to the position.

Experience

Experience in working in multidisciplinary and multi-agency science/technical or environmental planning or assessment teams.

Experience in environmental project planning and evaluation, including conducting reviews of environmental assessments.

Experience in cooperating and coordinating field, analytical, operational, and communication efforts with collegial organizational interests.

Experience in writing technical and planning documents related to environmental assessment and providing critiques of such documents.

Experience in presenting and defending organizational interests to other, often adversarial, interests.

CONDITION(S) OF EMPLOYMENT
• Security Clearance: Reliability Status
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Applicants must provide for their own transportation to and from the work location as there is no public transit.
• Willingness to travel regionally regularly, or nationally on occasion, including by air.

Applicants who meet the above criteria will also be assessed against the Statement of Merit Criteria for this position.

Challenge

Provision of policy and program advice, scientific and technical reviews, project management and coordination, scientific assistance and guidance in the application of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act to Environment Canada regional branches and staff, other federal and provincial departments and agencies, the public, private sector and First Nations.
Provision of advice on wildlife habitat conservation and ecological restoration, to colleagues, managers of the department, other government departments and agencies (all levels), environmental groups, academic institutions, industry and the public.
