English essential Occupational CertificationCurrently registered as a practicing member in good standing as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) OR a Registered Nurse (RN) in British Columbia. Possession of a valid certificate in CPR level C. ExperienceExperience in providing nursing care to patients with acute and chronic psychiatric/mental health conditions, behavioural, brain injured and personality disorders. Work EnvironmentThe Correctional Service of Canada, as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane control. It provides general nursing care and specialty psychiatric nursing assessments, interventions and prescribed therapeutic treatments to inmate patients in the Regional Treatment Centre (Pac) according to professional nursing practice standards and institutional, regional and unit philosophy, objectives and policies; assists in maintaining the nursing and institutional communication system; ensures security, safety and good order of patient and nursing areas; provides emergency care to staff and patients; and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor form time to time as required. ChallengeUnder the direct supervision of the unit manager and professional practice consultation from the Professional Practice Leader, provides general nursing care and psychiatric mental health nursing interventions and assessments to patients in the Regional psychiatric Centre (Pac) according to professional nursing practice standards and institutional, regional and unit philosophy, objectives and policies; assists in maintaining patient care communication systems; ensures security, safety and good order of patient and treatment/assessment areas; provides emergency care to staff and patients; and performs other related duties as assigned from time to time.
