Educators pleased with Preschool Excellence Initiative Post a comment

The atmosphere in a banquet room at the Loyalist hotel on Saturday was almost festive.
Early childhood educators and daycare operators were gathered there to learn about the Province's Preschool Excellence Initiative that was unveiled Friday.
June Scott, who operates the not-for-profit YMCA of P.E.I. in Summerside, said the plan was what she and other operators have been waiting for.
"We've been asking for years to look at a system and not just a quick fix for children and parents. This is a guaranteed system that's going to continue on, it's not going to end in a year or three years, which is phenomenal," she said.

Slow down before someone gets hurt
The rev of their engines could be heard a long distance away. Suddenly a pair of crotch rockets' flew by, then two more, and another and another.

A high-speed parade of a dozen or so sports motorcycles had lasted less than a minute, and they were gone.

It's likely all of the machines started out from the same point just a few kilometres away, the leaders setting a pace that others could not or would not match.  (more)  10:46 AM

Indian River Festival enters 15th season Post a comment

The Indian River Festival is looking forward to an eclectic 15th season of fine music in the acoustic and architectural beauty of its newly acquired home, St. Mary's Church, Indian River.

The individual response to a restoration fundraising campaign has been overwhelming and to date, just over $30,000 has been raised of the $40,500 needed to supply the festival's share of a $360,000 restoration project that is now underway.

How do you deal with dandelions?

I leave them be. They make the lawn more colourful.
I dig them up by hand and my lawn is pristine.
I mow them down and dig them up. But they keep coming back.
I have used pesticides in the past, but I'll have to stop now that they're banned..
I'll continue to use pesticides even though the law changed. They can't stop me from ordering them online.
