Canadiana:
online access to the national bibliography

Canadian bibliographic and authority records are available online in Library and Archives Canada's AMICUS database. AMICUS is a continuously updated database containing over 26 million catalogue records for books, serials, sound recordings, theses, microforms and other publications. It also provides location information to identify which libraries have copies of a particular item.

Canadiana is created from machine-readable records in the AMICUS database. As each new item is catalogued for the national bibliography, the information is instantly available online to users of the AMICUS system. Changes to existing Canadiana records are also available as soon as they are entered into the system. AMICUS is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, free of charge.
