How to Access Library and
Archives Canada Records

Research in Provincial and Territorial Sources

Education is a provincial and territorial jurisdiction. Records relating to the certification and employment of teachers can often be found in the relevant provincial or territorial archives. More recent records are likely still in the custody of the school board where the individual was employed.

Research in Other Institutions

Records of university and college staff are usually held by the archives within those institutions. Web sites for many of those archives can be found using the Directory Of Archives[www.cdncouncilarchives.ca/directory.html].

Records of schools run by churches are usually held by the archives of the relevant religious denomination.
