NEW HYBRIDS ADDED TO MANITOBA'S VEHICLE FLEET

The Manitoba Fleet Vehicles Agency today announced 11 new hybrid vehicles will be added to the government’s vehicle fleet including six new Ford Escapes.

Manitoba currently has 2,392 vehicles in its fleet. With today’s announcement, Fleet Vehicles will have 31 hybrids within its fleet.

The industry has trained hybrid vehicle technicians which has allowed Fleet Vehicles to expand the number of hybrids in its fleet. Servicing for the new Ford Escape hybrids is now available in Winnipeg, Dauphin and Brandon.

One Ford Escape hybrid will be assigned to the premier and another to the leader of the official opposition.  (The premier’s Ford Freestyle will be reassigned.)

Manitoba recently announced that 10 per cent of provincial vehicles were either E85 (ethanol) or gas-electric hybrid models. Fleet Vehicles will continue to ensure the percentage of green vehicles continues to grow.
