2500 GUESTS RECEIVE BREAKFAST INVITATION
WINNIPEG, April 18, 2001 - The Manitoba Securities Commission and The Institute of Canadian Bankers have sent out 2500 invitations for an industry breakfast, which they are hosting at the Hotel Fort Garry on April 24.
The event will feature guest speakers: The Honourable Scott Smith, Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, Marnie Williams from The Institute of Canadian Bankers, and Don Murray, Chairman of The Manitoba Securities Commission. The speakers will address the group on the topic: "Industry practitioner education and its benefits to the client."
"During Investor Education Week the Commission is encouraging the public to 'Invest time before you invest'." We also believe that industry professionals have an obligation to ongoing education if they are going to continue to provide clients with vital and timely information," says Ainsley Cunningham, Education and Information Coordinator with the Commission.
The industry breakfast is one of a number of events planned by the Manitoba Securities Commission for Investor Education Week, which begins April 23.
