Nunavut-Manitoba Route Selection Study

A study has been initiated to determine the best route for a road link between Rankin Inlet and Manitoba. The study is jointly funded by the governments of Nunavut and Manitoba and Kivalliq Inuit Association. Nishi-Khon/SNC-Lavalin has been retained to complete the study.

Three routing options from Rankin Inlet to connect with Manitoba’s all-weather road system via either Lynn Lake, Thompson or Gillam are being appraised. The Port of Churchill will also be connected to the route.

The study includes extensive community and public consultation and you are invited to contact members of the study team and/or regularly review study information and check on future input opportunities via the study website.

Brandon Area Road Network Development Plan

Manitoba Transportation and Government Services and the City of Brandon are jointly undertaking the Brandon Area Road Network Development Plan study. The study will examine transportation requirements for the City of Brandon as well as for Provincial Highways within the City and surrounding 60 km area, and provide recommendations on transportation needs for the next 20 years.

The Province and City selected a multi-disciplinary consulting team led by ND LEA Engineers & Planners Inc. to undertake the study. The study is being directed by a Steering Committee made up of Provincial and City representatives.

Residents of Brandon and the surrounding area will be asked to assist the study team in a number of ways throughout the duration of the project. You are welcome to regularly visit this web site to check on the latest developments and input opportunities.
