Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategic Plan
The Manitoba
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategic Plan was
completed in November 2003 by the IBI Group with funding from
Transport Canada and the Province of Manitoba.
The project involved
the development of an ITS strategic plan to serve as the road map
for implementing ITS technologies throughout Manitoba. The report
also helps to build awareness of the role and benefits of ITS
technology for the region.
Major outcomes
expected from the report involve the development of a coalition
building plan for actively engaging stakeholders; the identification
of needs, specific opportunities and challenges for the deployment
and integration of ITS applications among the modes and agencies
within the jurisdiction; assessment of the costs and benefits
associated with ITS applications on a broad regional scale;
identification of possible public-private sector partnerships
related to ITS deployment; and development of a deployment plan for
identifying projects to be implemented in the short, medium and long
term.
