Commercial Marine Species Sampling ProtocolsPhoto : S. Hurtubise
Fisheries and Oceans Canada is giving the public access to the protocols for collecting the biological data that apply to the commercial catches of marine species in the Estuary and Gulf of St. Lawrence. For each species, the sampling protocols are illustrated in the form of shortened data sheets on which the species code, the type of form, the main procedure guidelines, the sampling stratification criteria as well as the biological material collection techniques for detailed laboratory examination are presented.

Sea Ice Forecasts
Animations of sea ice concentration forecasts have been compiled since 2003. In order to compare last winter's results with those from the previous year, 2005 and 2006 animations are presented simultaneously allowing users to view the contrasting differences.

St. Lawrence Observation Network
The St. Lawrence Observation Network presents real-time water temperatures as well as an access to archives from two data collection networks.map

The SINECO network is an operational system for the observation and forecast of water levels operated by the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), Québec Region, and is made up of 23 recording stations. The on-line scientific buoy network includes 5 stations jointly exploited by DFO and the Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski (ISMER).

Further developments of this site include adding more data sources and featuring various parameters such as salinity, atmospheric pressure, etc.
