Nutrient Management Regulation for Water Quality Management Zones


Draft Regulation Available for Review

The Manitoba government is proposing a Nutrient Management Regulation under The Water Protection Act. In accordance with section 7 of The Water Protection Act, the proposed regulation is being made available for review and comment for a 60 day period. The purpose of the proposed regulation is to protect water quality by encouraging responsible nutrient planning, regulating the application of materials containing nutrients and restricting the development of certain types of facilities in environmentally sensitive areas.

The draft regulation (English, Français) is available for review electronically and hardcopy is available at public registries located across Manitoba. A report on the public consultations is also available.

Comments and objections respecting the proposed regulation must be made in writing by January 22, 2007. An objection relating to an area proposed to form part of a Water Quality Management Zone must include the technical or scientific information upon which it is based. Submissions should be sent to:
