Who can help me if I decide to appeal?

Free assistance in providing counselling and representation and submitting requests to the Veterans Review and Appeal Board are provided by:

Leaf the Bureau of Pensions Advocates in the Department of Veterans Affairs. You can phone their toll free number 1(877)228-2250 or visit the Veterans Affairs web site to find the office closest to you at
www.vac-acc.gc.ca or

Leaf a Veterans' organization such as:

Royal Canadian Legion.  You can telephone the Dominion Command Office at (613)235-4391 or visit their web site to find the Provincial Command Service Officer closest to you at www.legion.ca   (Choose Veterans and Ex-Service Members Services, Where to find a Service Officer) or

War Amputations of Canada. You can contact a Service Officer in Ottawa by telephone at
(613)731-3821 or you can visit their web site at www.waramps.ca.

If you wish to use your own lawyer or other representative or choose to represent yourself, you should contact the Veterans Review and Appeal Board in writing and we will advise you how to proceed.  If you choose to do so, you are responsible for any of the costs involved.

If you live outside of Canada, free assistance is provided by;

Leaf the Ottawa Bureau of Pensions Advocates in the Department of Veterans Affairs. Telephone (613)998-8801 collect, or
