Norway's Royalty Lay Wreath

On the occasion of their first official state visit to Ottawa, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway laid a wreath at the National War Memorial this morning, to pay tribute to those who layed down their lives during the Second World War. The Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Honourable Dr. Rey D. Pagtakhan participated in this short but meaningful ceremony, at the end of which King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway signed the visitor's guest book. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Canada-Norway diplomatic relations. Today's 15 minute wreath laying ceremony was just one of the many activities in which the Royal couple will take part, before they continue on their Canadian tour, which includes Toronto, Muskoka, Halifax, Lunenburg, and l'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland.
