CFB Esquimalt Open House

Written By Daphne Chin, Client Service Agent
Photos By Randip Prihar, Area Counsellor

Veterans Affairs Canada was invited to participate in the Base Open House at CFB Esquimalt on Saturday, September 18, 2004. Seven staff members from the Victoria District Office volunteered their time to organize and run the booth that day: Daphne Chin, Client Service Agent; Nicole Foofat, Account Clerk/Cashier; Bruce Nicholas, Administrative Finance and Support Services Officer; Nancy Smith, Client Service Agent; John Palmer, Pension Officer; Katie Colborne, Administrative Assistant; Randip Prihar, Area Counsellor; and Bridget Preston, District Director. Attendance was excellent with over 200 visitors. The Department strongly promoted awareness of peacekeeping missions, and services available through VAC.

Our display was for visitors of all ages. In addition to VAC benefits and services information we also served delicious cake, had colouring and activity books for children, ran a poster contest, and had a military uniform for children to try on.

Truly a successful event!

Our intrepid staff from the Victoria District Office, Pirate Bruce Nicholas and Fair Maiden Nancy Smith, dressed in period costumes and had their photos taken with both children and adults.
