Vulnerable Adults

Vulnerable adults are people who have a mental disability that has affected them before they were 18 years old. For these people, The Public Trustee can be appointed to act as substitute decision maker (SDM). When acting as a decision maker, The Public Trustee's responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the individual.

The Public Trustee as substitute decision maker can make decisions:

• involving property only
• involving personal care only
• involving both property and personal care
