Clients:

Selkirk Water TowerClients of this program include all citizens of Manitoba, various government departments, environmental groups, planning districts, municipalities, aboriginal organizations, consultants, water users, conservation districts, government boards, irrigation associations, agricultural producers, and the federal government.

Clients needs include: the right to use water for a specified purpose including protection of the water resource base from the adverse affects of water users, protection of local interests from the adverse affects of water development projects, information on regulatory procedures and requirements related to water use projects, information on water availability for allocation, information on project impacts.

Objectives:

  1. To ensure fair and equitable allocation of water for beneficial uses
  2. To provide for optimal allocation of water within the sustainable limits of the resource base
  3. To assess and license appropriate water use proposals
  4. To provide clients with high quality, timely service and information
  5. To ensure that the potential for negative impacts of water use projects are minimized
