Mandate
Manitoba Transportation’s mandate is to:
establish and manage provincial highways and northern airports,
to regulate and licence users of the highway system,
and to provide provincial input on national transportation issues.
Vision
A transportation system that is safe, efficient and supports the economic growth of the province.
Goals
To realize its vision, the Department establishes specific goals, which it strives to achieve over the longer term.
These goals are reviewed on an annual basis and may be revised in response to changes in the priorities and needs of Manitobans.
The Department’s current goals are:
Reduce transport costs for business
Improve Safety
Improve decision making for allocation of resources
Maintain a competent workforce in an environment of technological and demographic change
Improve customer service
