FLOOD REPORT FOR MANITOBA

July 14, 2006.

A report on Assiniboine River levels and flows is attached.

  • The controlled conduit outflow from Shellmouth Reservoir was increased to 1400 cfs early this afternoon.

  • The spillway flow this morning was 150 cfs and should decline to zero by next Wednesday. Total outflows will be maintained between 1300 and 1400 cfs  until the reservoir level declines to about 1405 feet.

  • The Shellmouth Reservoir water level was 1408.9 feet this morning and is expected to decline to 1405 feet by August 7 based on normal precipitation.

  • Outflows will be gradually reduced after the Reservoir reaches 1405 feet in order to minimize bank slumping along the Assiniboine River.

  • Water uses along the Assiniboine River are very high at this time due to the drought conditions. Those drawing water from the river will not experience any shortages for the rest of 2006.
