Some showers
are expected over the weekend but rainfall amounts should be light
and will not affect river levels. The Assiniboine watershed
upstream of Portage la Prairie may escape the showers.
Assiniboine River levels
continue to fall slowly at most points, but minor additional rises will occur
from Virden to Brandon. Flooding of valley lands from Shellmouth to Grand
Valley will continue for another week to two weeks depending on location.
Levels of the Carrot River
continue to decline slowly and flooding has become minimal.
The level of Red Deer Lake
declined only one inch since yesterday. The lake has now declined 1.5 feet
since the crest on April 28. There will be fluctuations in the rate of decline
at the community of Red Deer Lake due to changes in wind from day to day. It
will take about two more weeks before the clean-up can commence.
The level of the Red River
in Winnipeg fell half a foot since yesterday and was at 12.16 feet this
morning. With dry weather it could decline to 9.0 feet by the Victoria Day
long weekend.
