Manitoba Baby Friendly Coordinating Committee Breastfeeding Resources

Breastfeeding Resources

The Manitoba Baby Friendly Co-ordinating Committee Breastfeeding Resources are made up of information about breastfeeding and the Baby Friendly Initiative from international sources such as the WHO and UNICEF, as well as national sources like the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada and local sources from here in Manitoba.  They are designed as a resource for health care professionals working to promote breastfeeding and the Baby Friendly Initiative in their health care facilities and communities.  Also contained in these resources are two PowerPoint presentations.  The presentations can be used in whole or in part to assist health care professionals and breastfeeding advocates in providing training and sharing information about the Baby Friendly Initiative, and about breastfeeding.

  • BFI.ppt is a presentation detailing the history of the Baby Friendly Initiative internationally, reasons for breastfeeding, the International Code on the Marketing of Breastmilk substitutes, and an example of breastfeeding policy elsewhere in Canada.
  • 10 Steps.ppt is a presentation focused on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding specifically.

If you have questions about Manitoba's breastfeeding initiatives, please e-mail the Manitoba Baby Friendly Co-ordinating Committee Co-ordinator.
