This site is dedicated to the Canadian men and women who served during the Korean War to halt aggression and maintain world peace. On this, the 50th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, the story of their experience in Korea is offered here for all Canadians, especially those whose lives have been touched by the conflicts of the past and those who want to learn more about the sacrifices that helped support peace in Canada and other nations.

On June 25, 1950, the forces of North Korea crossed the 38th Parallel into the Republic of Korea in a full-scale invasion. It was the first open act of aggression since the establishment of the United Nations and Canada, along with 16 other member nations, joined forces to resist the aggression. The United Nations coalition of member nations worked well together and the Korean War ended with the signing of the Armistice Agreement on July 27, 1953.

The end of the Korean War marked the beginning of a new era of Canada's involvement in world affairs which saw Canadian troops deployed around the world in truce teams, peace commissions and emergency forces.
