Complementary Assistance Program

The Complementary Assistance Program (CAP) provides grant assistance to housing co-operatives, to lower housing charges for income-tested occupants. Applicants must meet income eligibility criteria. Co-ops submit monthly statements to Manitoba Housing to claim assistance on behalf of eligible clients.

While the program is closed to new applications from co-ops, CAP assistance continues to be provided to co-ops under previous commitments.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for Complementary Assistance, applicants must:

  • be an accepted member and resident of a participating housing coop;
  • meet the income eligibility criteria;
  • not be in receipt of any other shelter allowance or rental subsidy program assistance;
  • be a permanent legal resident of Canada; and
  • meet Manitoba residency requirements.
