Rent Supplement Program (Regular)

The Rent Supplement Program assists low and moderate-income family, elderly, and special needs households to obtain affordable, adequate and suitable housing in the private rental sector and in private non-profit or not-for-profit co-operative housing projects.

Eligibility:

• The Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation (MHRC) has entered into agreements with owners/operators of private rental stock, incorporated non-profit projects and not-for-profit continuing housing co-operatives. The MHRC subsidizes the difference between the approved market rental rate charged by the landlord and the rent-geared-to-income rate paid by the qualifying tenant.
• Tenants may be required to pay an additional amount for amenities, parking, etc.
• Applicants for housing assisted under this program will be selected on the basis of being financially unable to obtain affordable, suitable and adequate housing on the private market.
• Applicants Housing income limits determine client eligibility.
