TO THE MANITOBA AGRICULTURAL HALL OF FAME The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame announced on September 6, 2006 that they are accepting nominations for the year 2007 for deserving individuals who have made a significant contribution to agriculture and their community. Individuals and organizations are invited to submit nominations for consideration. Induction Ceremony Portage la Prairie, Manitoba The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame annual Induction Ceremony took place on Thursday, July 20th at 1:30 p.m. in the William Glesby Centre, located at 11 - 2nd Street NE, in Portage la Prairie. Five outstanding individuals were honoured for their contributions to
agriculture in their respective communities, the province, and in some
instances nationally and internationally by induction into the Hall of
Fame.

Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame Inc. Inductees Announced The Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame Inc. held their
Annual General Meeting at the Keystone Centre in Brandon on April 20, 2006.
The Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that five outstanding individuals
who have made a significant contribution to agriculture in their respective
communities, the province, and in some instances nationally and internationally
will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A formal induction ceremony
will take place in July to recognize these individuals.
William Esmond Jarvis (Deceased) Esmond was well known for his outstanding career with Manitoba Agriculture as well as being an Assistant Deputy Minister of Agriculture Canada in Ottawa. Following a number of appointments he became the Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Wheat Board. After 13 years in that capacity, he was appointed Canada's High Commissioner to New Zealand and five nearby South Pacific countries as well as ambassador to Fiji. Dr. Eugene H. Lange (Deceased) Dr. Eugene Lange was best known as the first Director for the School of Agriculture, University of Manitoba. Dr. Lange provided direction and philosophy in placing emphasis on Farm Business Management and Marketing in the Diploma in Agriculture course. Many of Manitoba's leading farmers continue to regard Gene Lange as a mentor. Dr. Lange's personal interest in each individual student was legendary. Owen McAuley PO Box 22, McAuley MB R0M 1H0; Ph: 204-772-2316 Owen was raised on the family farm near McAuley, Manitoba where he continues to farm in an expanded form. He is well known for his involvement with the Keystone Agricultural Producers from its inception. He has been an active participant on many boards and committees, advising provincial and federal Ministers of Agriculture on a number of issues. Owen is a visionary who has the ability to focus on long term strategic goals and the consequences they could create for the industry. Owen is as comfortable on a tractor as he is in a board room or behind a podium. Thomas Scott Box 10, Boissevain MB R0K 0E0; Ph: 204-534- 4-H has been a part of Tom's life. In 1937, as a member of the Manitoba Livestock judging team, he earned the highest score in judging at the National Competition in Toronto. Tom was in demand as a judge for many National competitions. He was consistent and won the respect of all exhibitors. His ability, reliability and fairness were a model for all judges to follow. He had a great influence in the development of today's Hereford breed. William (Bill) Vaags Box 14, Group 16, RR 1, Dugald MB R0E 0K0; Ph: 204-853-7948 Bill is well known for his outstanding contributions to the hog industry. He has been active on the Board of Directors for the Manitoba Pork Council for many years, while serving as chair from 1979 to 1989. Bill is a founding director of Canada Pork International. He has acted as a Trade Advisor to the Federal Minister of International Trade. Noted as a "consensus builder", he willingly sacrificed time and personal gain to promote the industry.
