The Honourable Dr. Rey D. Pagtakhan, P.C., M.P. and James IrvineMr. Irvine's extensive volunteer work with Veterans began in 1956 upon his appointment as Service Officer at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 60, in West Vancouver. Mr. Irvine has been actively involved in helping seniors, Veterans and their spouses, providing information relating to Veterans pension benefits, assisting them with their pension applications and pension appeal forms, as well as accompanying them to pension hearings when required. Mr. Irvine's devotion to the well-being of Veterans extends to visiting them in long-care facilities and hospitals. He is particularly dedicated to those in palliative care, providing them compassion and support during difficult times. Mr. Irvine is responsible for building and managing low-income housing for Veterans in his community. Currently, he is a Director and Vice-President of the George Derby Long-Term Care Society in Burnaby, a long-term facility for Veterans. Mr. Irvine participates in Veterans Affairs commemorative activities in Greater Vancouver and contributes in an exemplary manner to the the remembrance of the contributions, sacrifice and achievements of Veterans.
