#EUFFCountdown: Sixth Film Revealed
Saturday, 28 September 2013
Congratulations to Michael Karchev, who correctly guessed the sixth film of #EUFFCountdown! Michael has won two free tickets to a night of the Festival, held November 14 through December 1, 2013. Check back next week, when we'll announce the next film in the contest. With many more films to announce, there are plenty more chances to win!

The Belgian film for the 28th European Union Film Festival is the critically-acclaimed and award-winning THE GIANTS (Les géants, dir. Bouli Lanners, 2011). The follow-up film from Bouli Lanners, the director of Eldorado, THE GIANTS illustrates the photographic talents of its auteur, as each carefully-crafted shot drips with a somber beauty. It's a story of two teenage brothers, abandoned in the countryside by their mother one summer, who decide to rent out their homestead to drug dealers. The complex themes extend far beyond any coming-of-age troupes that you might expect. Winner of the Cannes 2011 Art Cinema and Directors' Fortnight Awards, THE GIANTS is an excellent film to showcase Belgium's cinematic talents.

Bulgaria's selection for the 28th European Union Film Festival is Love.net (2011). The film marks — which marks the directorial debut of Ilian Djevelekov, producer of the widely-acclaimed Zift (2008) — is an enthralling, sexy, stylish, and particularly relevant ensemble piece that focuses on the complexity of online dating, relationships, and interactions. We at the Canadian Film Institute are very pleased to be showing this remarkable work from Bulgaria, and thank the Embassy for their support in this event.

Learn more about the film on the official website for Love.net.
