Manitoba Film Classification Board
Canadian Home Video Ratings System

The Canadian Home Video Rating System came into effect in May 1995, following collaboration by industry members, the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association, and the English speaking provincial film classification boards. Averaging the classifications assigned by provincial boards produces the CHVRS ratings.

Manitoba and the CHVRS use the same 5-tier classification system and symbols. In many cases, video and DVD product that is distributed in Manitoba has the CHVRS classification symbol embedded in the art work on the back of the video/DVD. Since the CHVRS classification is an average of the Manitoba and other provincial ratings to derive the national CHVRS rating, no Manitoba sticker will appear if the CHVRS rating is the same as Manitoba's.
