Customs Internet Gateway

The Customs Internet Gateway (CIG) was initiated to give CBSA trading partners an alternative delivery channel for the transmission of cargo, release, and accounting data.

Using a public key infrastructure, CBSA trading partners will be able to send and receive data over the Internet. Medium-level assurance certificates will be issued by the CCRA Certification Authority (CA) to each trading partner wishing to use the electronic transactions methods.

Requirements

To register for the Customs Internet Gateway, participants must first become CCRA PKI subscribers. To register as a subscriber, each participant requires the following:

Participant Requirements Document
The Participant Requirements Document details all of the requirements participants must have and all of the steps that must be followed in order to successfully complete the online registration process.

Organization Agreement
Organization Agreement – Appendix A

The Organization Agreement must be signed by a senior official of the organization who has the authority to bind the organization.

It details the terms and conditions relating to PKI participation, as well as the responsibilities of the organization. It also identifies those individuals appointed to receive and manage digital certificates.

Subscriber Agreement
The Subscriber Agreement must be signed by the designated representative identified in the Organization Agreement to receive and manage digital certificates. It details the terms and conditions for use and custody of a digital certificate.

Subscriber Application Form (RC129) (CRA)
The RC129 must be completed by the employee (the "designated representative") who will, at the end of the process, manage the digital certificate(s). The information contained on this form is protected and is retained in CCRA PPU 165 Public Key Infrastructure for External Clients.
